Michigan newspaper praises the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community for plans to relocate one of its casinos to the waterfront:
After more than a decade of planning a new casino in Marquette County, the KBIC has set it sights a bit closer to home, with a new casino to be located on the Baraga waterfront.

As Dan Roblee wrote in his Page 1 story, Monday, the most advantageous plan seems to be purchasing the Baraga Lakeside Inn and creating the complex on that location.

While the council approved a letter of intent to buy the Lakeside Inn, there's still much to be worked out, including a final purchase price and council and tribal approval.

It appears to us with the new-look council, foot dragging won't be an issue. The new casino would be significantly larger than the current location on M-38. The ambitious goal is to make "the KBIC a destination," according to Tribal Council President Donald Shalifoe.
