Strange accused the Poarch Band of Creek Indians of trying to buy its way out of a gaming lawsuit that he filed.
Strange sued the tribe in state court even though the state lacks jurisdiction in Indian Country. A federal judge confirmed that in a decision last month that also affirmed the legality of the tribe's gaming operation.
The tribe has since funneled another $750,000 to Joe Hubbard, a Democrat who is running for state attorney general. Strange claims the tribe is trying to buy his rival.
“I don’t think the people of Alabama want their top prosecutor bought and paid for by Indian casino interests,” Strange said in a press release. "Without a doubt, these gambling interests are attempting to buy their way out of a lawsuit by purchasing the office of the Attorney General.”
Strange has vowed to appeal the judge's decision.
