Chief Phyllis J. Anderson of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians criticized the tribal council for rejecting plans for a $20 million casino.
Anderson said the proposed Red Water Casino would have created 170 jobs. But a council member said there was no guarantee the facility would succeed due to economic concerns, The Neshoba Democrat reported. The tribe is securing a $145 million loan to renovate the Silver Star Hotel and Casino and return to full operations at the Golden Moon Casino, which cut back services amid the economic downturn.
