The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is being sued over a failed commercial bid in Massachusetts.

The tribe originally proposed a casino in in Palmer, in the western part of the state. Voters rejected the project in a referendum so the tribe shifted focus to eastern Massachusetts.

Northeast Realty Associates, the owners of the 152-acre site in Palmer, alleges the tribe broke a contract by engaging in secret discussions for the new project. The lawsuit seeks to block the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority from pursuing the venture.

Despite the litigation, the tribe is still interested in Palmer. CBRE/Grossman Retail Advisor has been hired to look at other development options there.
