MGM Resorts expected to start work on casino by DC in summer

MGM Resorts International submitted building plans for its casino near Washington, D.C., and could start work on the $925 million facility this summer.

MGM won the license to build a casino at National Harbor, a hotel, convention and entertainment complex that's less than 10 miles from the U.S. Capitol. The firm plans a facility with a 300-room hotel, 3,600 slot machines, 140 gaming tables, a theater, restaurants, a spa, high-end retail and 4,700 parking spaces.

The casino is expected to open in mid-2016.
