Arizona tribes share $940M in gaming revenues with state

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

Tribes in Arizona have shared $940 million in gaming revenues with the state since 2002, The Nogales International reports.

Under their Class III gaming compacts, tribes share between 1 percent and 8 percent of revenues. The majority of the money -- $836 million -- has gone to the Arizona Benefits Fund and another $104 million has gone to local governments.

"We’re keeping our fingers crossed that by the end of the first quarter of this year we’ll hit the $1 billion mark, which is an incredible milestone,” Valerie Spicer, the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, told the paper.
