The MOWA Band of Choctaw Indians plans to sue the Mobile County Sheriff's Office over a raid of the tribe's gaming facility in Alabama.
The sheriff's department seized about 50 electronic machines and cash from the Choctaw Entertainment Center on Thursday. The facility was open for less than 5 days. “We were illegally invaded by the Sheriff’s Office,” Chief Framon Weaver told ALLive.Com. The tribe lacks federal recognition but Weaver contends the tribe maintains a relationship with the federal government under the 1830 Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek. Get the Story:
