Stand Up for California is seeking a statewide referendum on a bill that ratified a Class III gaming compact for the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians.
The referendum calls for a vote on AB 277, which narrowly passed the California Legislature before being signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown (D) last week. The group says citizens should decide whether they want off-reservation gaming in the state. The initiative [PDF] was submitted to the California Attorney General's Office.
