Florida governor approves ban on electronic gaming machines

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) signed into law a ban on electronic gaming machines, a move that will shut down more than 1,000 non-Indian operations across the state.

HB 155 bans electronic devices except for the ones operated by the Seminole Tribe and by certain non-Indian facilities in South Florida.

The offending devices were offered at so-called "Internet cafes" and "adult arcades" that have spread across the state.
