New Mexico tribal gaming revenue back to pre-recession level

Friday, March 1, 2013

Tribal casino revenues in New Mexico have finally returned to pre-recession levels, according to Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry Report.

In 2011, tribes in casino took in $809 million, the report said. That's an increase of 2.2 percent from the year prior.

"New Mexico is sort of following that nationwide trend. Where it was growing but at slower rates prior to the recession. And then took the dip in 2009 as a result of the recession. And then it started to show some recovery and show some positive growth afterwards," economist Alan Meister told KUNM.
