The Shinnecock Nation and its gaming partner offered $100 million to buy land from New York City but Mayor Michael Bloomberg rejected the proposal.
The tribe and Gateway Casino Resorts submitted the proposal back in September 2011. The $100 million was for 61.4 acres of city-owned land in Willets Point, Queens, The New York Times reported. The tribe gained federal recognition in August 2010 and wants to build up to three casinos in New York. Get the Story:
