A group of protesters called on the Poarch Band of Creek Indians in Alabama to stop a casino expansion project.
The tribe is spending $246 million on a new Wind Creek Wetumpka. Opponents say the casino will destroy the Hickory Ground, a sacred and historic Creek site. “We just want to return the site back to nature,” Steve Musgrove, one of the organizers of the protest, told The Montgomery Advertiser.
