The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe are becoming allies on gaming issues.
The tribes operate large casinos about 10 miles apart. The recession brought them closer together and so far they have addressed law enforcement, gaming promotions and other issues. “It was only good fortune, or good misfortune, that both of us were going through the same economic challenges at the same time,” Mashantucket Chairman Rodney Butler told the Associated Press. “How much more successful can we be simply working together?” “We’re both fighting for the same things, sovereignty, protect your sovereignty, do what’s right for your people and make sure we’re here 300 years from now," added Mohegan Chairman Bruce “Two Dogs” Bozsum.
