The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians is still pursuing an off-reservation casino in Michigan, reassuring residents who have been confused by another potential development near the proposed site.
The tribe owns 223 acres in Fruitport Township. None of the land is being sold but the owners of an nearby property put up signs on their lot in hopes of luring developers. The signs -- which suggest a hotel, convenience store and restaurant concepts -- led some residents to believe the tribe was changing course. But that isn't the case, a spokesperson said. “These signs don’t reflect any change on the tribe’s position,” Glenn Zaring, the tribe's director of public affairs, told MLive.
