Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes saw double-digit declines in slot machine revenues for the month of October 2012.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation saw a 15.6 percent drop in revenue and the Mohegan Tribe saw a 17.6 percent drop, compared to October 2011. Executives said Hurricane Sandy contributed to a decline in business. “Industry trends show that we remain in a difficult economic environment. Consumer confidence is not where it once was," Mohegan Sun president and CEO Bobby Soper told The Norwich Bulletin. Internet gaming could help the tribes boost their figures.
