Tribes in Oregon spent $2.8 million fighting a non-Indian casino that was easily defeated on the ballot last week, Williamette Week reported.
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe were the main opponents of Measures 82 and 83. The ballot measures were defeated by an average of 71 percent to 29 percent, the Week reported. The Canadian developers behind The Grange Casino. spent $6.85 million pushing the project.
