The Dry Creek Rancheria of California opened a new fire station on the reservation as part of a casino service agreement.
The tribe pays $336,000 a year to the Geyserville Fire District to handle calls at the River Rock Casino and on the reservation. The deal includes the new station, with one firefighter and two fire engines, plus a new fire engine for an existing station in Sonoma County. “Developing a partnership between a Tribe and a neighboring district is a model that’s never been done before in California,” Chairman Harvey Hopkins told The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.
