The city council in Glendale, Arizona, will decide whether to continue fighting the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation casino in the courts.
The tribe plans to open the West Valley Resort on 135 acres of newly acquired land near Glendale. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that part of the land can go into trust. The city could ask the court to rehear the case. Or it could ask the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the decision. The Gila River Indian Community is also suing to block the Tohono O'odham casino.
