The mayor in Niagara Falls, New York, is threatening to cut fire protection services at the casino owned by the Seneca Nation.
The tribe has withheld more than $400 million in gaming revenues from the state in an ongoing Class III compact dispute. That has left several communities without a key source of funds. "By our count the city is owned nearly $60 million dollars," Mayor Paul Dyster told local media, WKBW-TV reported. In the face of potential layoffs of city workers, including firefighters, Dyster said he would stop providing services to the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. Get the Story:
