The North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians will share revenues from its off-reservation casino with two other tribes, including one that is threatening litigation against the project.
The North Fork Rancheria agreed to pay up to $760,000 per quarter to the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians. The payments start once the tribe gains financing for the off-reservation casino and will end once it opens. After the casino opens, the tribe will share at least 2.5 percent of net slot machine win with the Chukchansis until 2020. Still, the Chukchansis are considering litigation and are urging lawmakers not to approve the Class III gaming compact for the casino. Separately, the North Fork Rancheria is sharing 2.5 percent of slot winnings with the Wiyot Tribe. Get the Story:
