The Winnebago Tribe envisions spending around $100 million to develop a commercial gaming facility in Iowa, an executive said.
Ho-Chunk Inc., the tribe's economic development corporation, wants to build a casino and hotel in downtown Sioux City. "The Winnebago Tribe has been here before Sioux City was here. There's no doubt in my mind that we will put all the money that we make back into the community," HCI CEO Lance Morgan told KTIV-TV. The tribe would be bidding on a license to host a casino with Missouri River Historical Development, a non-profit. The organization currently operates Argosy, a riverboat casino with Penn National Gaming, an out-of-state company. The MRHD board voted to extend its contract with Penn National but the organization's president anticipates further discussions with other parties, including the tribe. Get the Story:
