Thursday, July 12, 2012

More than two years after being indicted, a former gaming executive for the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians of California went on trial for defrauding the tribe.

Ryan Jay Robinson was the chief financial officer of the Pechanga Resort & Casino. Prosecutors say he received $130,000 in kickbacks for steering insurance business to James William Riley, a broker who is also on trial.

Altogether, the scheme cost the tribe $4 million, according to prosecutors.
