The son of the federal judge who barred the Kialegee Tribal Town from engaging in gaming on an Indian allotment is now working for Rep. John Sullivan (R-Oklahoma), who has been fighting the casino.
Ben Frizzell is a summer intern in Sullivan's Washington, D.C., office. His appointment was announced in a Facebook post on June 21, about a month after his father blocked the tribe from opening the Red Clay Casino. Sullivan has introduced H.R.4033, the Giving Local Communities a Voice in Tribal Gaming Act. The bill gives local governments the ability to veto Class III gaming facilities even if the state has agreed to a Class III gaming compact. Get the Story:
