Greg Sarris, the chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria in California, continues to maintain his silence on the tribe's forthcoming casino.
Sarris has only spoken publicly on a couple of occasions since the tribe's land-into-trust application and its Class III gaming compact were approved. He has refused to be interviewed by the local media and turned away from a reporter for The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat at a Sonoma County hearing last night. Other residents, however, offered their opinions. County supervisors oppose the casino but said they don't have much power to stop it. The tribe and the county are due to enter negotiations to address the impacts of the casino. Get the Story:
