The California Tribal Business Alliance opposes a bill to legalize Internet poker games.
The CTBA represents three tribes with casinos. The group's political director called the bill a "nonstarter." "You have a high likelihood it will have an impact on our brick-and-mortar facilities," David Quintana told The San Francisco Chronicle. A larger group of tribes has joined with non-Indian card club to promote Internet poker. They set up a site, CalShark.Com, to prepare for online gaming. The bill, SB1463, allows tribes, card clubs and horse tracks to engage in online poker under 10-year licenses. It requires all operators to pay 10 percent of gross revenue to the state. Get the Story:
