The Kialegee Tribal Town says the Bureau of Indian Affairs lacks authority to review its casino agreement.
The tribe has a lease with the owners of an Indian allotment and the developers of the proposed Red Clay Casino. The BIA asked to see the agreement but Town King Tiger Hobia said federal regulations don't apply in the situation, The Tulsa World reported. The allotment is owned by two members of the Muscogee Nation. Chief George Tiger says the two tribes have met to discuss the casino but disputed Hobia's claim that they are looking at sharing jurisdiction at the site. "That's the first time I heard this," Tiger told the World, when asked about a letter Hobia sent to the BIA. Tiger vetoed a Creek National Council resolution that outright opposed the casino.
