The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma is still debating a casino expansion plan, a spokesperson said.
During the administration of former chief Chad Smith, the tribe planned a new Cherokee Casino Tahlequah on a 17-acre site. The facility would replace the old casino about a mile away.
But Chief Bill John Baker said the details are still being worked out. However, plans haven't been canceled, a spokesperson said.
"The business entities are deciding whether we need a full-blown hotel and casino operation in Tahlequah," Jim Gray told The Tahlequah Daily Press.
Baker took office last month.
