Non-Indian gaming interests have already spent more than $2 million on lobbying in New York and they plan to spend even more next year.
Genting, a Malaysian gaming firm with ties to tribes in other states, has already spent $1 million. this year, The New York Post reports. Eight other non-Indian racetracks spent $1 million. That dwarfs the tribal expenditures. The Seneca Nation and the Oneida Nation spent about $200,000, the paper said. Next year, the New York Gaming Association said it wlll spend $1 million.
