Members of the board of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority are paid well, The Saskatoon StarPhoenix reports.
In July alone, board members claimed more than $78,000 in expenses. One leader -- Muskowekwan First Nation Chief Reginald Bellerose -- asked for $9,000 for the month, the paper reported. "They're supposed to make decisions for us, not make all this money," Saulteaux First Nation Chief Velma Knight told the paper in response. "They're just thinking about their own interests. They've started to get greedy." About half of the board members already make salaries as chiefs of their band councils. Last year, they claimed $109,000 in expenses. Get the Story:
