The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota says gaming revenues are up 15 percent from a year ago.
"We're very happy here," Royal River Casino general manager Steve Christensen told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. The tribe has been worried about a non-Indian casino that opened just across the border in Iowa. For the first full month of operation, the Grand Falls Casino Resort reported $5.21 million in adjusted gross revenue, the paper said. The tribe has proposed an off-reservation casino to address the competition. But the tribe recently negotiated a new Class III gaming compact that allows up to 500 slot machines, double the number of existing machines. Get the Story:
