Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe to add 250 slot machines at casino
Friday, July 8, 2011
The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe
of South Dakota will add 250 slot machines to its casino over the next two years.
The tribe currently operates 250 machines, a limit was imposed in the Class III gaming compact. On the eve of a federal court trial, the tribe and the state agreed to double the number.
"We do have room for the 250 machines to expand in the current facility," President Tony Reider told KELO.
The tribe's Royal River Casino is facing competition from a new non-Indian casino that opened just across the border in Iowa.
