The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe and the state of South Dakota will enter mediation next week over a gaming compact lawsuit, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports.
The tribe wants to amend its Class III gaming compact but former governor Mike Rounds (R) refused to come to the table. The lawsuit accuses the state of negotiating in bad faith. The compact limits the tribe to 250 slot machines. Non-Indian gaming facilities operate over 8,000 machines in the state. The talks come ahead of a July 11 trial date in the lawsuit. Get the Story:
