Some businesses have formed a coalition to oppose the Spokane Tribe off-reservation casino in Airway Heights, Washington.
Irv Zakheim, the owner of a manufacturing company, is leading the effort. He said the community already has one off-reservation casino -- owned by the Kalispel Tribe -- and doesn't need another one. “One casino is enough,” Zakheim told The Spokesman Review. “We do not believe that there is a large enough market here to support two casinos so close to each other." The Spokane Tribe has filed a land-into-trust application with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A decision hasn't been made. Get the Story:
