The California State Auditor says some local governments aren't distributing tribal gaming revenues properly.
Tribes that signed compacts in 1999 pay a share of revenues into the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund. The money then goes to local governments to address the impacts of tribal casinos. But of a sample of 20 grants, 10 were issued by local governments that couldn't provide evidence or couldn't quantify the impact of a casino. The 10 grants totaled $2.3 million. The audit also found that some local governments aren't receiving as much money as they are entitled. More than $1.2 million was denied in these cases, the report said. Get the Story:
