Coushatta Tribe spends $60M to add more rooms to hotel casino

The Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana will be spending $60 million to expand its casino.

The tribe is adding 401 hotel rooms and 18 luxury suites to the Coushatta Casino Resort. That will bring the total number of rooms at the facility to over 950.

The tribe is also adding a lobby bar, a coffeehouse/cafe and a retail shop to the hotel. Construction is expected to begin during the first quarter of this year, with an opening expected in 2012.

"Our new hotel is going to provide the one of the most unique and enjoyable experiences available in the marketplace," general manager Conrad Granito said in a press release.

The casino opened 16 years ago this month.
