The Redding Rancheria of California hopes to avoid blackouts at its casino and save money by switching to a new utility.
The tribe became a customer of Redding Electric Utility, owned by the city of Redding. The city council approved the deal on June 1, a day before a statewide referendum that could have affected the arrangement. But voters rejected the referendum, which was bankrolled by Pacific Gas and Electric Co.. The tribe was a customer of PG&E and suffered regular blackouts at the Win-River Casino. Get the Story:
