Six local governments are seeking a share of gaming revenues from the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians of Michigan.
The six governments requested a total of $513,861 to cover costs associated with the FireKeepers Casino. The largest request came from the Calhoun County Road Commission, which said it spent $330,687 on road construction related to the casino. The tribe's Class III gaming compact calls for 2 percent of slot machine profits to be shared with the community. The tribe's first payment was $1.93 million, double what was expected. Get the Story:
