Connecticut's two federally-recognized tribes are ready to capitalize on the expansion of gaming in Pennsylvania.
The Mohegan Tribe plans to hire up to 500 people at the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in the wake of a new law that allows table games in the state. "We'll offer the complete variety of games you'd find at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut - blackjack, craps, roulette, poker and various novelty games," Bobby Soper, the Pocono Downs president and chief executive officer, told The New London Day. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is still working on a casino in Philadelphia but will also see benefits from the law, which was signed by Gov. Ed Rendell (D) yesterday.
