City wants more time on Guidiville casino report

Monday, August 31, 2009

The city council in San Pablo, California, is seeking more time to comment on the draft environmental impact statement and environmental impact report for the casino proposed by the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians.

The city says the report fails to address the economic impact of the proposed casino. The city depends heavily on revenues from San Pablo Lytton Casino, owned by the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.

The Lytton Band casino is Class II only. A Class III facility, as sought by the Guidiville Band, would negatively impact San Pablo, the city's manager said.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is taking public comments until September 23.
