The Obama administration has until Wednesday to file a response in an off-reservation casino lawsuit.
The St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin sued the Interior Department for rejecting the proposed casino in Beloit. The Bush administration said the gaming site was too far from the reservation. The Obama administration hasn't stated its views on off-reservation gaming. But the Bureau of Indian Affairs is reviewing prior decisions and policies on the issue. The St. Croix case will be heard by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Get the Story:
