A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit aimed at stopping the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria from opening a casino in California.
The tribe was recognized through an act of Congress. The law directed the Bureau of Indian Affairs to acquire land in trust for the tribe. The tribe purchased 254 acres in Sonoma County for a casino and other purposes. A group called Stop the Casino 101 Coalition challenged the acquisition but Judge Susan Illston said the plaintiffs lacked standing. Get the Story:
