Supporters of an off-reservation casino in Beloit, Wisconsin, have already met twice with the new administration of President Barack Obama.
City Manager Larry Arft said the meetings are a positive step in reversing the Bush administration's 11th-hour rejection of the casino. The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and the St. Croix Chippewa Indians are proposing a joint facility. Arft said the Bureau of Indian Affairs is reconsidering the project. But he was told a final decision probably won't be made until the Senate confirms a new assistant secretary for Indian affairs. Get the Story:
