The Michigan Senate approved a Class III gaming compact with the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe.
The deal calls for the state to receive 8 percent of the first $150 million in slot machine revenues and 10 percent from amounts above that. Additionally, local governments will receive 2 percent of the slot machine take. The tribe will soon break ground on a casino now that its land was placed into trust following a lengthy court fight.
