The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians of California says it's on track to open its casino in December.
All that's needed is for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to approve the tribe's Class III gaming compact. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) signed a bill ratifying the compact into law. The Red Hawk Casino will house up to 5,000 Class III machines. The tribe will share between 20 percent and 25 percent of net winnings from slot machines with the state. The BIA has 45 days to review compacts under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Get the Story:
