Connecticut tribes are set to report their slot machine revenues for the month of August 2008.
The Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation have seen a drop in revenues in the past few months. Executives blame the downturn in the economy and high gas prices. But there could be a bright spot, The Norwich Bulletin reports. Both tribes have nearly doubled the number of penny slot machines at their facilities, the paper says. Players appear to be responding -- revenue from one-penny machines jumped 51 percent at Foxwoods Resort Casino and 32 percent at the Mohegan Sun Casino in July 2008, compared to July 2007.
