Judge won't force closure of Seneca Nation casino
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
The Seneca Nation says it will be “business as usual” at the tribe's off-reservation casino in Buffalo, New York.

The tribe is disappointed that a federal judge considers the Buffalo
Creek Casino to be illegal. But the National Indian Gaming Commission hasn't taken any steps to close the facility, which is operating in a temporary space while a permanent home is being constructed.
In a July
8 ruling, Judge William M. Skretny said the land used for the casino doesn't qualify for gaming under the Indian
Gaming Regulatory Act. He reaffirmed that holding in a decision yesterday.
He said IGRA requires the NIGC to "take prompt action" against violations of the law. The agency hasn't decided how to proceed, a spokesperson said.
