Deal reached on bingo expansion in California

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

California churches and charities will be able to expand their bingo games under a compromise announced on Monday.

The deal allows churches and charities to hold bigger games with bigger prizes But they won't be able to offer electronic Class II machines as some have wanted.

The compromise reportedly involves some of the state's tribes but none were named by The San Diego Union-Tribune. And a lobbyist for the California Charity Bingo Association says the deal won't help small charities.
