Absentee Shawnee casino to celebrate 21 years

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is celebrating the 21st anniversary of its casino.

The tribe will hold a powwow on Friday and Saturday at the Thunderbird Casino near Norman. Dancers and drummers can compete for $30,000 in prize money.

The tribe opened the casino in 1987, a year before the passage of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
