Nottawaseppi Huron Band discusses casino

Thursday, December 13, 2007

The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians expects to begin construction on its first casino sometime in early 2008.

The $250 million FireKeepers Casino in Emmett Township could see about 3.8 million visitors a year, according to developer Full House Resorts. The 230,000 square-foot facility will include 2,500 slot machines, 110 table games, five eateries and a 2,000-space garage.

The tribe waited several years for the 79-acre site to be placed in trust. An anti-gaming group called Citizens Exposing Truth About Casinos held up the process but lost in the courts.
