Dealers at Mashantucket casino stick with union

Monday, December 10, 2007

Dealers at the casino owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut are moving forward with their unionization efforts.

A majority of dealers voted to join the United Auto Workers. But the tribe has filed objections with the National Labor Relations Board. Evidence is due by the end of the day, The Norwich Bulletin reported.

The NLRB oversaw the union vote, the first of its kind at a tribal casino. But the tribe says federal labor law infringes on its sovereignty.
